United Methodist Women Giving
Makes Mission Possible
Mission is a
set of tasks that fulfills a purpose.
"Jesus went on through cities and villages, proclaiming and bringing
the good news of the kingdom of God. the twelve were with him, as well as some women; Mary, called Magdeline, Joanna, the
wife of Herod's steward Chuza, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them our of their resources."
(Luke 8:1-3)
United Methodist Women advocate for women, children, and youth. Giving is a way of an expression of
our faith. where there is hunger, thirst, lonliness, or illness, most often women, children and youth are the first to be
effected. United Methodist Women have given generously and sacrificially in response to the need of others. Giving to mission
is a commitment to proclaiming the gospel in its many forms.
Taylor United Methodist Women are involved in mission
locally and globally. Our pledge to mission provides financial support to mission. Out local unit decides the amount an individual
pledge to mission should be. These funds enable the local unit to give to specific programs and projects based on interest
or need. Locally, we provide cards for the sick and shut-in; we make donations to bereaved families and food banks. We also
provide clothes for back to work individuals and health kits to UMCOR for disaster areas. Globally through our 5 star giving,
we support national and internationlal programs and projects.
United Methodist Women work on issues of mutual
concern with other organizations, such as Church Women United, community organizations, and surrounding churches.
We send funds through the channel of giving to District, Conference, and Women's Division to support mission programs
and training around the world.
Look around in your community; there are many mission opportunities, such as tutoring
a young child, prpoviding clothes to the needy, finding a shelter for a homeless person, serving a meal at a food venter, fighting
for immigration rights, or being part of the "Occupy" movement. "what does the LORD require of you, but to
do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8). We are called to do mission work at home and
around the world.
